The most incredible of today's animator is releasing his short films trilogy on DVD. An unique graphic universe!
ATTENTION PAL VERSION. NTSC version (American system) available under "you liked you will like" menu below.
The Mind My Gap Trilogy consists of three short films, all based upon and referring to the graphic novel. The films have been described as "hyper intense cinematic experiences".
Anglobilly Feverson is the first 35mm coming from the Gap-universe. The film premiered in 2002 at the International Film festival Rotterdam, was released in Dutch cinemas later that year and built an excellent track-record of international prestigious festivals.
However, Anglobilly is not the first Gap-short. At the end of 1999, a 3-minute piece called Beheaded was produced for television. The film reincarnated on 35mm and has been remixed and remastered for the DVD.
Jona/Tomberry, recently awarded at the Cannes Film Festival 2005 and currently Dutch short film entry for the Academy Award competition, impressively completes the trilogy. This is arguably the most inscrutable of the trilogy, containing the most explicit references to the basic themes of the graphic novel: timelines, places and plots seem to have lost their logical relationships, suggesting that there is no reason in this world. You are lost and there's no other option than just accepting, experiencing and enjoying it for as long as it lasts.
The Related Early Work section on the DVD shows guerilla videos in which Rosto explores techniques and ideas in style, narrative and design. It is a prologue to the eventual trilogy by all means though, making this DVD an essential document for any devotee of art, film and animation.
